Bangalore: In the early hours of Sunday, a tragic accident occurred in Karnataka's Chitradurga, claiming the lives of three individuals and leaving 33 others injured. The incident occurred when a speeding bus overturned while negotiating a curve on the road. Among the deceased, two have been identified as Jagdish, aged 45, and Ganapathi, aged 40. The bus involved was a private vehicle, carrying a total of 36 passengers, en route from Bengaluru to Gokarna, a renowned beach destination popular among tourists. The accident took place near Hollalkere town around 4:30 am, attributed to the driver's loss of control due to excessive speed. Following the mishap, the injured individuals were promptly transported to Chitradurga District Hospital and Hollalkere Taluka Hospital, where they received necessary medical attention. Fortunately, all of them are reported to be in stable condition. Upon receiving news of the accident, law enforcement authorities swiftly responded to the scene, rescuing the stranded passengers. An investigation into the matter has been initiated, with a case registered under Section 304A of the Indian Penal Code, pertaining to death caused by a rash or negligent act. Further inquiries are currently underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
