Mumbai: A special court in Mumbai has sentenced a father to 17 years in jail for confining, beating, and raping his 13-year-old daughter for two years. The court said the offense was serious as the offender was the custodian and guardian of the minor but committed such a heinous crime.
The 53-year-old man pleaded in court that he had the responsibility of taking care of his wife and four children. On this, the court said that these arguments cannot change the situation. Because the crime committed by the offender was neither under pressure nor on the part of the minor victim. The court said the offender committed such offenses against his own minor daughter. Even when the responsibility of taking care of the minor was on the culprit. Therefore, the criminal does not deserve a soft stance. The prosecution said the minor had lost his mother as a child. My father had a second marriage. The victim had gone to a relative's house. She was asked several times to return home, but she refused to return home every time. However, in 2016, when the victim told them about the sexual assault, the family went to the police station and lodged a case.
The convicted father argued that he was being falsely implicated by his first wife's family. Because she had remarried against her will. However, Special Sessions Judge AZ Khan did not accept it and said the victim's statement was irrefutable and cogent. The court said the defense has completely failed to bring on record any facts to show why the minor victim leveled such a serious allegation against her own father when the girl was now married. Further, the statement of the minor is not only irrefutable and reassuring but also correctly supports the statements of the complainant.
