Fire mishaps are making way every day in Telangana. Recently an incident happened wherein nine employees of Telangana state power generation corporation (TSGenco) got trapped inside the under-tunnel Srisailam Left Bank Power Station (SLBP) when a fire broke out in the electric panel late on Thursday night, officials reported. The SLBP is on the Telangana side of the Srisailam reservoir on Krishna river which is a joint irrigation project between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. 3 get arrested for robbing a truck in Hyderabad The powerhouse was constructed in the huge tunnel under the Nallamala forests adjacent to the reservoir, which is presently brimming with heavy inflows into the river forcing the authorities to lift all the gates to discharge water. Fire tenders rushed to the spot immediately and are trying to extinguish the blaze. Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy and Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy reached the spot. As per the sources, the rescue personnel tried to enter the power station units at least thrice but were unable to enter because of the dense smoke. Rescue operations are underway. City markets in old Hyderabad continue to suffer Telangana power Minister Jagadish Reddy said that the incident at Srisailam Power House was unfortunate. He added that "A fire broke out in the first unit. Four panels were reported damaged in the fire. 10 people rescued and 9 people were feared trapped. Dense smoke inside the station hampered rescue operations. Fire and police personnel went inside to rescue those trapped.
