Mumbai: A fire engulfed a new plant at the Serum Institute of India in Pune on Thursday. Five employees of the Serum Institute have been reported to have died in the incident. The death of five people has been confirmed by the mayor of Pune. The Serum Institute of India is making corona vaccine Covishield, and it is being supplied in many countries other than India. The fire was in the new plant where the vaccine production has not yet started. In this case, the Government of Maharashtra is now in active mode and the government has issued an enquiry order. In this regard, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said, "As per the information received, the fire is under control. There was no fire in the covid vaccine unit. Uddhav Thackeray has also said, "I have spoken to the collector and the municipal commissioner. The fire is almost under control. There is only smoke. 6 people have been rescued." CM Thackeray said, "The BCG vaccine was produced in the building and it has nothing to do with the CoviShield vaccine. The cause of the fire will be investigated. "We have ordered an inquiry," said Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. 'I am in constant touch with the administration. Concerns are being expressed over the incident in the country and around the world. I would like to clarify that the vaccination plant is safe.'
