First batch of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine arrives in Nicaragua

Nicaragua has received the first batch of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus.

Nicaragua's vice president said that the first batch of the vaccine against the coronavirus has arrived in Nicaragua. Rosario Murillo Zambrana on Wednesday said, "Yesterday at night, we gratefully received the first batch of the Sputnik V vaccine, which was delivered for free." 

Earlier this month, the Nicaraguan Health Ministry authorized the use of the Russian vaccine against COVID-19. Sputnik V, developed by the Gamaleya Epidemiology and Microbiology Center, was the world's first vaccine against corona and was registered by the Russian Health Ministry on August 11.

Meanwhile, India has reported 16,738 cases in last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 11,046914. With the surge, the number of active cases on Thursday against breached the 1.5 lakh mark, the dashboard of the Union health ministry showed. The number of daily fatalities too rose with 138 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.
