Hyderabad, On the first day of ‘Fish Prasadam’ administration at Exhibition Grounds, thousands of people from various parts of the country believed to cure asthma.
14-year-old Swapnesh from Uppal, who came to take prasadam, said, “There is a moment’s discomfort when the fish is dropped into the mouth. But swallowing the fish quickly eases it.
Swapnesh added, that it was his first time at the event and he is also seeing an allopath for asthma.
The Bathini Goud family, which administers the 'fish prasadam' (murrel fish and a herbal paste), began the exercise at the Exhibition Grounds at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday and it will continue for 24 hours.
The 'fish prasadam' is administered on the day of 'Mrigasira Karthe', which usually falls on June 7 or 8, the organizers said.
A yellow herbal paste is shoved down the mouth of a murrel fishling and then dropped into the mouth of an asthmatic.
The State government has stated it has made preparations for nearly five lakh people.
Around a lakh fish are available at the venue with another two lakh with the Fisheries Department.
