For India's airlift operations in Slovakia, it's an all-Northeast effort

Operation Ganga, India's massive airlift operation now underway in Ukraine's neighbouring nation Slovakia, is an all-Northeast affair. Kiren Rijiju, a union minister, is in charge of the airlift operations.

The airlift operations in Slovakia, on the other hand, include India's ambassador to Slovakia, Vanlalhuma, and the first secretary of the Indian embassy in Brussels, Pankaj Phukan. Surprisingly, all three men are from India's northeastern states of India While Kiren Rijiju, India's union minister, is from Arunachal Pradesh, Vanlalhuma, India's ambassador to Slovakia, is from Mizoram.

Pankaj Phukan, the first secretary of the Indian embassy in Brussels, is from Assam. When Kiren Rijiju arrived in Slovakia to monitor the airlift operations, he was greeted by India's Ambassador to Slovakia, Vanlalhuma, and the first secretary of the Indian embassy in Brussels, Pankaj Phukan, at Kosice airport near the Ukraine border.

As part of the Indian government's Operation Ganga, hundreds of Indian people, including students, have already been airlifted from Slovakia.
