Ford EcoSport Thunder variant, an upcoming addition to the sub-compact SUV line-up, is in the making -- at least that's what reports would have you believe. While the American carmaker hasn't even announced the existence of the variant, an image of the car has made its way on to the internet. Allegedly awaiting its launch in June, this new variant will be positioned between the Titanium and Titanium+ trim levels and will flaunt some cosmetic upgrades aimed at distinguishing it from other EcoSport variants. From what we have gathered, the Thunder trim of the Ford EcoSport SUV will get a glossy black embellishment for the front grille as well as on the lower lip of the bumper. It will also get decals on the bonnet and along the sides. Other chrome bits on the body will also be replaced by black inserts. While we don't expect any major changes in the cabin, word has it that cloth upholstery will make its way on this trim. also read Harley-Davidson plans to enter in a newer segment of the bike in the year to come That's pretty much all there is to what's diferent on the Ford EcoSport Thunder; this means there will be no mechanical changes. So, the Thunder variant will also be offered with a choice between a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol motor, available with a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic gearbox, delivers 121.31 bhp and 150 Nm of torque, while the diesel engine makes 98.63 bhp and 205 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is offered only with a five-speed manual gearbox. Talking about the features on offer, the Ford EcoSport Thunder is likely to get the Titanium variant's feature list; this will include a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic AC, push start, and key-less entry. Safety features on the EcoSport Thunder will include dual front airbags and ABS+EBD. While there has been no hinting at the price, we expect the Ford EcoSport Thunder trim to cost a little more than the Titanium trim, which costs ₹9.57 lakh with petrol engine and ₹10 lakh with diesel engine. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. also read Hyundai Kona Electric Compact SUV details launched in India
