Delhi Police arrested a former cricketer in case of bribing

New Delhi: A former cricketer has been detained by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police. The former cricketer is alleged to have charged a hefty sum from the players in the name of playing under 16 and Under 19 matches. A few months ago, the BCCI had complained to the Delhi Police's Crime Branch about the case.

The Crime Branch launched an inquiry into the case on a complaint filed by the Board for Control cricket in India (BCCI). The investigation revealed that the accused former cricketer was holding the post of Assistant Coach at a cricket academy in Delhi. He used to tempt the children playing cricket in the academy to play the Under-16 and Under-19 matches against the North and North-Es teams.

According to Delhi Police, the former cricketer was demanding a hefty sum from the children who were caught in the temptation. When the BCCI came to know about the former cricketer's actions, he complained to the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police to end the scam. This is the first arrest of the Crime Branch in connection with the bribery case. However, the police are still investigating the case.
