Foundation stone laid for IIS, Shah says, 'Five thousand students every year…'

Gandhinagar: Soon the Indian Institute of Skill (IIS) on the lines of IITs and IIMs will develop skills of students in line with global standards and market demand. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on the occasion of the foundation stone of IIS here on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, that 5000 students can be imparted high-level training every year in this institute. 70% of trained students will get employment only through campus placements.

India is a country of youth. That is why Prime Minister Narendra Modi started work on skill development while being the Chief Minister in Gujarat. After becoming Prime Minister in 2014, the Ministry of Skill Development was formed. But by 2020, a target has been set to connect one crore youth with skill development. The IIS is being created in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of Gujarat and Tata Education and Development Trust. The Gujarat government has given 20 acres of land for the institute. IIS Mumbai and IIS Gandhinagar will run through PPP mode.

Modi government's plans are very good: According to sources, the chairman of the Tata group present here, Ratan Tata said, "Our Prime Minister, Home Minister and other members of the government have a vision for India. It is also being said that what we have can only be proud of.
