Four hospitals designated for Omicron in Delhi

New Delhi: In response to an increase in Covid-19 Omicron strain cases, the Delhi government-designated four private hospitals on Saturday to treat suspects and patients. With immediate effect, the government has notified Sir Ganga Ram City Hospital, Max Saket, Fortis Vasant Kunj, and Batra Hospital Tughlakabad for the treatment of Omicron on a payment basis. With the addition of these four private hospitals, the new Covid variant Omicron will now be treated in a total of five Delhi hospitals. The Delhi government-run Lok Nayak Jai Prakash hospital was the single designated hospital for Omicron treatment, earlier.

"In order to increase the capacity of institutional isolation facilities in the private sector for Covid positive international passengers who have travelled from or transited through countries classified as 'at-risk' according to the Centre's guidelines, the authorities of Batra Hospital & Research Centre, Tughlakabad Institutional Area, Fortis Super Specialty Hospital, Vasant Kunj, and Sir Ganga Ram City Hospital are hereby directed to establish separate units for such passeengers."

In Delhi on Friday, ten fully vaccinated international travellers, including a few who had received booster doses of the Covid vaccine, were confirmed for the Omicron variant. They had arrived from Tanzania (1), Belgium (1), the United Kingdom (4), and Dubai (1). (4). On December 5, Delhi reported its first case of the Omicron variant.
