Ramban:: The district administration of Ramban has taken the initiative to establish free medical camps along National Highway 44, covering the stretch from Nashri to Banihal, to cater to the needs of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims. With a total of 19 medical camps set up in various locations, including Langars (communal free kitchens), Yatri Niwas, and other accommodations, the Yatris have easy access to healthcare facilities. Dr. Opinder Singh, the Nodal Officer for Health, confirmed the availability of services such as free medicines, ambulance service, and testing facilities round the clock. "Our medical staff is available in every Langer to provide round-the-clock medical facilities to the Yatris. In case of serious cases, patients are referred to the district hospital in Ramban," added Dr. Singh. In addition to pilgrims, security officers, langar managers, workers, and tourists are also entitled to receive free medical services, ensuring their well-being during the Yatra. The arrangements made by the administration have been highly appreciated by the Yatris. Balvinder Singh, a Yatri from Punjab, expressed his satisfaction, saying, "The arrangements have been executed flawlessly. I underwent a medical checkup for my ear, and the medication was provided free of cost. I am pleased with the treatment I received." Dr. Sushant Mahajan, the Camp Director, highlighted the range of facilities available for the Yatris. "We have set up beds for patients and installed ECG machines. Free medication is being offered to all Yatris," he said. Vinay Kumar, another Yatri, shared his positive experience, "I had a skin cut that was promptly treated by a doctor. Furthermore, I received a free sugar test. I am truly grateful to the doctors for their assistance." The annual Amarnath Yatra commenced on July 1, with the first group of pilgrims embarking on their journey from the Baltal base camp in Ganderbal, Jammu Kashmir, towards the Amarnath Cave. This 62-day pilgrimage will conclude on August 31.
