Hajipur: For the supply of essential commodities in the nationwide lockdown, the operation of goods trains from East Central Railway is going on continuously. In the three days from 25 to 27 April, 722 freight trains were operated on the East Central Railway. During this period 220 rakes were loaded and 55 racks were unloaded at different terminals of East Central Rail. In this, a total of 220 racks were loaded including 17 racks of items mainly related to the daily needs of common people, 194 racks of coal and 9 racks of various other materials. Along with this, a total of 55 rakes including 5 racks of food items, 38 racks of coal, 1 rack of petroleum products and 11 racks of rice, salt etc. were unloaded. It is noteworthy that to prevent the spread of Corona virus, lockdown has been implemented throughout the country till 3 May. During this time, the goods trains are being operated with priority to ensure that the common people do not have any problem in the availability of any items of daily needs including wheat, rice, salt. Along with this, for the convenience of small traders, parcel special trains based on time table are also operational.
