The renowned and the veteran actor of the Bollywood industry has recently appointed the new chairman of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). FTII which is located in Pune. Actor Anupam Kher is going to succeed former television actor Gajendra Chauhan. The two-year stint of Chauhan, which ended in March 2017, was marked by a 139-day strike by students, who protested against what they felt was a"politically-motivated appointment".After the news surfaced everywhere Anupam Kher's wife Kiran Kher congratulate hubby on social media platform she tweeted that "Congratulations my dear @AnupamPkher for becoming FTII Chairman! Know you will do a great job!" The veteran actor Anupam Kher has appeared in over 500 films has been part of the theatre circles. Not only this but the actor also been part of acclaimed international films such as the 2002 Golden Globe-nominated Bend It Like Beckham, Ang Lee's Lust, Caution, and the 2013 Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook. Kher is also been honoured with Padma Shri in the year 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in the year 2016. He has previously held the post of chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification and the National School of Drama. FTII earlier headed by the legendary film personalities including Shyam Benegal, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Saeed Mirza, Mahesh Bhatt, Mrinal Sen, Vinod Khanna and Girish Karnad.
