Game of Thrones Season 8 opens with record-breaking rating…read detail inside

The widely anticipated premiere episode of the eighth and final season of Game Of Thrones was finally aired after a long wait of more than one-and-a-half years on Monday morning as per Indian Standard Time. The episode, as per statistics unveiled by HBO television network, drew as many as 17.4 million viewers on Sunday night as per across all platforms.

Here it is to be noted that in comparison to the Season 7 premiere, that was aired in July 2017, the latest episode of the American fantasy drama television series drawn a greater viewership with a margin of 1.3 million. The final episode of the last season too had attracted a record 16.9 million viewers, the highest for the series, only until yesterday since the record was broken with the episode titled Winterfell.

 

However, it is worth mention here that the first episode of the final season saw a lot of reunions - one between Arya Stark and Jon Snow, Jon and Bran, Bran and Jaime, Arya's with Sandor Clegane aka The Hound and Gendry, Samwell Tarly and Jon among others.

The much-awaited final episode of Game of Thrones will be aired in India on May 20, 2019 at 6.30 am and that is when it is expected to be revealed who will finally win the game of thrones and get to sit on the highly coveted Iron Throne. A lot of fan theories regarding the same have been doing the rounds on the internet ever since the show came into being a part of the pop culture.
