Ghulam Nabi Azad rejects Congress's offer, what's the reason for resentment?

Srinagar: The Congress has suffered a major setback in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The Congress on Tuesday appointed party veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad as the chairman of the state campaign committee, but Azad resigned from the post two hours after being appointed president. The reason for resigning is not yet clear.

According to sources, Ghulam Nabi Azad's displeasure is that his recommendations are being ignored, due to which he has refused to take up the new responsibility. The Congress, however, maintained that Azad has refused to take over as chairman of the campaign committee due to ill health. According to media reports, he has informed the party high command about this. Azad thanked the party leadership for giving him the new responsibility.

Ghulam Nabi Azad is also part of the G-23 group apart from the party, which advocates many major changes in Congress. This group is also called the rebel faction of Congress. Amidst all those activities, this resignation has put a question mark on Ghulam Nabi Azad and his relationship with Congress. Ghulam Nabi Azad has been awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Center this year.
