Girl's body found hanging from tree in forest

Shimla: The discovery of the hanging body of a young woman in a forest adjoining Summerhill in Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla created a hue and cry among the people. Kavita Kantu (26), the deceased girl, was a resident of Rampur. Rampur is a Zilla Parishad member from Jhakri ward of sub-division. The cause of death is yet to be revealed. Baluganj police came to know this morning that the body of the girl was hanging from a tree in the forest in Sangti area of Summerhill. On receiving the information, a police team led by Baluganj police station in-charge rushed to the spot and seized the body and started taking action.

It has been learnt that forensic experts have also been called to the spot. Police are in the process of investigating the case. Kavita Kantu was the only daughter of her parents. Kavita did her M.Phil in history from the State University of Shimla. After which he had also cleared the net examination of the UGC. She was a CPI(M) backed candidate in the Zilla Parishad elections.

Superintendent of Police Dr Monica has said that the case is going to be investigated in depth. The deceased girl Kavita was staying at PG in Summerhill area. The body was found hanging from a tree under the road in Sagati area.
