Golden Globe Awards 2023: SS Rajamouli’s RRR wins Best Original Song Award

One of the most prestigious awards of the entertainment industry,  Golden Globe Awards were held in Beverly Hills, California on Wednesday.  The 80th Golden Globe Awards celebrity-packed event that kicks off the annual movie awards season, has not had its usual glitz for two years, due to the pandemic. The awards are announced and it is a pride moment of India as Telugu title RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli won the Best Song award for Naatu Naatu.   The SS Rajamouli’s film conquered at the Golden Globes. RRR won Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu, one of the two categories it was nominated in. It missed out in the Best Non-English Language Film which was won by Argentina, 1985 from Argentina. Other nominees in the category include All Quiet on the Western Front (Germany), Close (Belgium), Decision to Leave, (South Korea). The film at the event was represented by its director and stars - SS Rajamouli, Jr NTR and Ram Charan who is accompanied by wife Upasana Kamineni. Jr NTR and Ram Charan play freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Seetharamaraju in the period drama, set in the British-occupied India of the 1920s. As soon as the news caught people’s attention social media flooded with congratulations messages. 

Speaking of RRR, it is a fictional story set in the 1920s pre-independent era and is based on the lives of two real heroes and well-known revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. While Ram Charan played Ram, NTR was seen as Bheem. The film has grossed over Rs. 1200 crore worldwide during its theatrical run.
