NEW DELHI: More than 400 employees at Google India have been let off, and some of those affected have posted about their situation on LinkedIn. The job cuts at Google affected 12,000 employees globally and included the layoffs at Google India. Account manager Kamal Dave from Google's Gurugram location said on LinkedIn: "Yesterday, I participated in the Google India Layoffs. As a strategic key account manager/consultant at Google, my efforts were directed on achieving Digital Marketing Goals for various sectors at the top of their food chain in India ". "I'd appreciate your assistance while I hunt for a new position. I appreciate any contacts, suggestions, or opportunities you can provide in advance. It "is incredibly terrible to see them (colleagues) go through this,"David posted. Another Google India employee, who survived the layoffs, said it "is really difficult to see them (colleagues) go through this". During a recent all-hands meeting with top managers, Google employees who have survived the recent layoffs have expressed concern and asked reassurance that their jobs are not the next to be eliminated by the firm. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet and Google, had earlier denied that the layoffs were carried out "randomly" and expressed his "deep regret" for the reduction in staff. Pichai stated that he accepts "full responsibility for the decisions that brought us here" in an email to the company's staff. The hiring freeze that has affected businesses of all kinds due to the global slowdown and recession fears has deepened, which is why the layoffs at Google's parent firm were anticipated.
