Google has announced four exciting new updates for Chrome on iOS devices (iPhone and iPad), bringing enhanced functionality to improve user experience. The updates include Google Lens features, easier saving to Google Drive and Google Photos, Shopping Insights, and a new way to view maps directly from Chrome. New Google Lens Search Features With the latest Google Lens update, users can now add textual descriptions to photos when searching. Previously, you could only search with images, but now you can add words to your search query, allowing for more precise and complex searches. This feature helps in refining your results by attributes such as color or specific details. Users may also get an AI Overview that presents relevant information from across the web based on the image and text search. To access Google Lens, simply tap the camera icon in the Google Search bar. Save Files and Pictures Directly to Drive and Photos The new update makes it easier to free up storage space on your iOS devices by allowing users to save files directly to Google Drive and Google Photos. Previously, users had to download files or images to their phone memory first before uploading them to the cloud. Now, you can save content directly from Chrome without taking up storage space on your device. To save a file from Chrome to Drive, simply tap the Google Drive option. Files will be stored in a new folder called “Saved from Chrome.” To save an image to Google Photos, long-press the picture and select “Save in Google Photos” from the context menu. You’ll need to be signed into a Google account to use these features. Shopping Insights for iOS Users in the US Google has introduced a feature for Chrome iOS users in the United States that provides shopping insights while browsing. If you're looking at a product, Chrome will notify you of any available deals by showing a “Good Deal Now” notification in the address bar. This feature offers details such as price history, price tracking, and alternative buying options. To activate this feature, ensure you're signed into Chrome and have enabled the “Make Searches and Browsing Better” setting. The feature is expected to roll out to more regions soon. Quick Map View for Addresses The latest update makes it even easier to view location maps directly within Chrome. Now, when you see an address on a website, you can simply tap the underlined address to view a mini-map of the location without leaving the browser. This feature is currently being tested and will be rolled out globally in the coming months. Google has indicated that more Chrome iOS updates are on the horizon, bringing even more features to enhance user convenience and functionality.
