Google sacked 453 employees in India

Recently Google has once again laid off the company on a large scale and this has been done from Indian units. It is being said that Google has sacked 453 of its employees in India. According to the report received, the process of removal of these 453 Indian employees was done on Thursday night and the information has been given through mail. This mail has been sent by Sanjay Gupta, Country Head and Vice President of Google India.

In this mail, the approval of Indian-origin Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google's parent company Alphabet, has also been mentioned on the decision of retrenchment. According to the report, due to various reasons, the decision of layoffs has been taken in Google and Sundar Pichai has agreed to take full responsibility for all these decisions. The beginning of the year means in January 2023 itself, in a note sent by Google CEO Sundar Pichai, he claimed that Google's fired employees outside the US would get support as per local rules.

While Google has laid off 453 employees in India, it is not yet clear how many employees are affected globally, or whether there will be more layoffs at the tech giant. Let us tell you that only last month Google's parent company Alphabet Inc announced that about 12,000 employees would be laid off. These layoffs account for around 6 percent of the company's total headcount globally. This retrenchment done in India is also included in this figure or whether the company has started a new phase of retrenchment in the country, is not clear. Citing cost-cutting amid the threat of recession, layoffs are being done in the world's leading companies and tech companies are seen at the forefront. In addition to Google, Amazon has decided to cut 18,000 employees in its workforce, while Facebook has already laid off 11,000 employees.
