Sale of goods like mobile, TV will start from April 20, know how you can buy

New Delhi: Mobile phones, televisions, refrigerators, laptops and cleaning products will be allowed from April 20 through e-commerce companies like Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal. Giving this information on Thursday, citing the revised guidelines issued by Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, the ministry has said that according to the revised guidelines issued during the lockdown extension till May 3, electronic products such as mobile phones, TVs, laptops, e- Commerce will be available on the companies website from April 20.

However, he said that it would be necessary to get approval from the concerned authority to drive the vehicles delivering these goods on the roads. It is noteworthy that according to the guidelines issued on Wednesday, a day before, commercial and private establishments have been allowed to work in the second phase of the shutdown.

The ministry said that vehicles of e-commerce companies will be allowed to ply on the roads with the necessary approvals. In the earlier notification, the Home Ministry had clearly stated that e-commerce companies would be allowed to supply only essential commodities such as food items, medicines and medical equipment. These guidelines did not provide clarification regarding essential and non-essential commodities. The government's move is seen as an attempt to start industrial and commercial activities.
