Kolkata: West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has reacted to CM Mamata Banerjee's non-involvement in a meeting with PM Narendra Modi to review the damage caused by cyclone Yas. Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar said when Mamata did not attend the meeting, "The ego has dominated the public service.'' Governor Dhankhar said CM Mamata had spoken to her before a meeting at Kalaikunda in West Midnapore district and indicated that she would not attend if Leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari attended it. Dhankhar tweeted, "CM Mamata sent a message at 11.16 pm on May 27, 'Can I talk, it is very important'. He then hinted over the phone that if MLA Suvendu officials attend pm Modi's review meeting on Cyclone Yas, he and other officials would boycott it. The ego dominated the public service." Apart from Suvendu Adhikari, Dhankhar, BJP MP Debshree Chaudhary was also present in the meeting. CM Mamata said she did not attend the meeting because "there is no point in any BJP MLA being present in the Prime Minister-Chief Minister's meeting". The official had defeated Banerjee from Nandigram seat in the recent assembly elections.
