Is it necessary to buy tricolour for free ration? Govt said- 'no such order...'

The central government said on Wednesday that no instructions have been given to ration shop owners not to give rations to people if they do not buy the tricolour. In fact, the government said that action has also been taken against a ration shop owner for violating this order. Let us tell you that in the past, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleged that Rs 20 is being extorted in the name of tricolour in lieu of giving rations to the poor.

In fact, he also shared a video in which some ration card holders can be seen complaining that they are being forced to buy the tricolour for Rs 20. However, now the Press Information Bureau (PIB) tweeted, "No such directive has been given by the Government of India. About 80 crore people are getting ration every month without any hindrance. The licence of a ration shop has been suspended for violating the government order and misrepresenting facts.''

A government spokesperson said that after verifying the video, the Union Ministry of Food and Consumer Affairs, through the state government, found that the ration card holder was from Dadupur village in Haryana's Karnal district. The concerned ration shop owner misrepresented the facts. In fact, on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi alleged that instead of giving rations to the poor, 20 rupees are being extorted in the name of the tricolour, which is an attack of the BJP government on the national flag and the self-respect of the poor. Not only this, but he shared a video and said in a Facebook post, "The tricolour is our pride, it resides in every heart. Nationalism can never be sold, it is very shameful that in return for giving rations, the poor are being forcibly charged Rs 20 in the name of the tricolour.''
