Govt to collate job data of unorganised sector

The Ministry of Labour and Employment is set to launch a survey on employment numbers in organised and unorganised sectors, a press release said. The All India Quarterly Survey on Employment of Enterprises will provide comprehensive data on jobs in both sectors, the release said, quoting Labour Bureau Director-General DPS Negi at the centenary year celebrations of the Labour Bureau.

The ministry will also conduct four all-India surveys on migrant workers, domestic workers, employment generated by professionals and transport sector. "The results of these surveys will be available by October," Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar said.

According to Gangwar, implementation of the labour codes will ensure ease of living for the workforce as it will universalise wage security, social security and safe working conditions to a large extent. The minister also said the labour ministry has taken various initiatives like four all India surveys on migrant workers, domestic workers, employment generated by professionals and transport sector.
