Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had a special reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi during his two-day visit to India. He, along with his wife Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotakis, was welcomed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mitsotakis expressed the importance of the strategic partnership between Greece and India, highlighting the upcoming discussions on various topics including politics, economics, and strategic cooperation. Earlier, Mitsotakis met with Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who appreciated Mitsotakis' dedication to strengthening the relationship between the two countries. Mitsotakis, who arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday night, was greeted at the airport by Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakashi Lekhi. He is attending the Raisina Dialogue 2024 as the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker. Accompanied by senior officials and a business delegation, Mitsotakis' visit marks the first bilateral visit from Greece to India at the Head of State or Head of Government level in 15 years. The last Greek Prime Ministerial visit to India was in 2008, while PM Modi visited Athens in August 2023, elevating the relations between the two countries to a 'Strategic Partnership'. During his visit, Mitsotakis will engage in bilateral discussions with PM Modi and attend a lunch banquet hosted in his honor. The Ministry of External Affairs anticipates that Mitsotakis' visit will further enhance the strategic partnership between India and Greece. After his engagements in New Delhi, Mitsotakis will also visit Mumbai before returning to Athens.
