The police investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as Mohit and Vivek's cousin from his mother's side, rendered Vivek unconscious by administering some kind of drug or sedative. Mohit then proceeded to cut up the victim's body and concealed the pieces in polythene bags before burying them. Vivek, a well-known grocer operating a store on BG Road in Ganga Colony, left his shop on Wednesday morning and never made it home. Initially, the suspect tried to mislead investigators, but under pressure, he eventually confessed to the gruesome crime, as per the police statement. Shockingly, the accused carried out this heinous act within the premises of his brother-in-law's government quarters, according to the police. Based on Mohit's confession, he buried Vivek's dismembered remains approximately 50 feet from the national highway, along a road leading to Gopi Sagar Dam. Police report that he used an autorickshaw to transport the body parts to the burial site, where pre-prepared pits awaited disposal. On Friday evening, around 8 pm, the police arrived at the indicated site and commenced digging. They successfully recovered Vivek's body parts from three separate pits. The police meticulously collected the various pieces and transferred them to the district hospital for postmortem examination. A panel of doctors conducted the examination in front of cameras on Saturday.
