Gujarat Assembly Speaker calls BR Ambedkar 'Brahmin'

 

Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], Apr 30 (NT): Gujarat Assembly Speaker Rajendra Trivedi on Sunday termed BR Ambedkar as a 'Brahmin', opposing that there was nothing wrong in calling a educated person a Brahmin.

In his address at the 'Mega Brahmin Business Summit' in Gandhinagar, Rajendra Trivedi stated that heI has no hesitation in saying that BR Ambedkar is a Brahmin.

He added that there is nothing wrong with calling a learned person a Brahmin.

In that context, He asserted “I will say that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also a Brahmin."

“Brahmins made the gods, and I have always said that Lord Ram was a Kshatriya, but it was the rishi-munis (sages) who made him a god. The shepherd of Gokul… who made this OBC a god? It was Sandipani Rishi, a Brahmin," the Gujarat Assembly Speaker was quoted as speaking at 'Mega Brahmin Business Summit' by the reports.

The Father of Indian Constitution, BR Ambedkar, was hailed into a Dalit family and grew up to be the torchbearer for the community's cause.

The man behind the Dalit Buddhist movement, Ambedkar, campaigned in opposition to untouchability that the Dalits were subjected to. Ambedkar also fought for the rights of women and labourers. (NT)
