Gujarat government changes traffic rules, violators to pay this fine

AHMEDABAD: Taking a big decision, the Gujarat government said that those who drive two wheelers in the metropolitan and urban areas will not be required to wear helmets. This decision was taken in the meeting of Gujarat cabinet on Wednesday (4 December). Transport Minister RC Faldu has given information in this regard.

Faldu has said that in the cabinet meeting led by the state CM and deputy CM, it was discussed for a long time whether it is mandatory for the two-wheelers to wear helmets or not. Actually, many complaints were received from the people regarding the new rules related to wearing helmets. People were also expressing their displeasure over the helmet on social media.

According to the new rule, instead of 1000 rupees for driving a vehicle without wearing a helmet, the Gujarat government has ordered a fine of 500 rupees. Apart from this, a fine of 500 rupees will be imposed instead of 1000 rupees for driving a car without seat belt.
