AHMEDABAD: A 51-year-old businessman from Surat district of Gujarat on Wednesday jumped from the fifth floor of the hotel in Vapi town of Valsad district and committed suicide. All this happened in the presence of many people and during this time people kept making videos of the incident. Police said that Piyush Pachigar, who lives in Gheya Gali of Mahidharpura in Surat, had left his house on Tuesday night after telling his family that he was going to the city for some work. Piyush is a jewellery businessman. Within a few minutes, Piyush jumped from the building and died on the spot. The video of his suicide became very viral on social media even before the police reached the spot and took the body for postmortem. Police found from the hotel records that he was staying at the hotel on Tuesday night. Hotel staff also handed over a copy of Piyush's Aadhaar card to the police. Sub-Inspector RJ Gamit said, "We have started an investigation into Piyush's suicide. We will record the statements of his family members and try to find out the reason behind his move."
