Electric shock while taking out Tazia, painful death of two youths

Ahmedabad: A tragic incident has taken place in Jamnagar, Gujarat during the procession of Muharram. Two people have lost their lives after being hit by an electric wire while removing Tazia here. While 10 were seriously injured. All of them have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The incident took place during the night between Monday and Tuesday.

According to media reports, the accident took place around 11.15 pm in the area of Dhararnagar 2 in Jamnagar. The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Asif Malek and 20-year-old Mohammad Wahid Pathan. Police said a stick of Tazia had come in contact with the wires going up. After that, there was a loud shock and both the youths died on the spot. Police said the feet of the people carrying a Tazia had fallen on the lid of the gutter. Due to this, the Tazia shook and those who were moving forward with sticks to remove the wires from its path were hit by the electric wire. It was also raining during that time, due to which this accident took place.

Jamnagar Superintendent of Police Premsukh Delu has informed that it was a Tazia of Mannat. No tazia committee from Jamnagar was involved. Once the procession started, the people of Jamnagar also reached it. The Tazia was very high. The accident took place while passing through a narrow path. A case of accidental death has been registered at the B Division police station in Jamnagar.
