Gurugram: In a move that seeks to enhance transportation infrastructure in the National Capital Region (NCR), Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up to initiate the renovation of not one, but three prominent railway stations. Gurugram, Rewari, and Pataudi railway stations are all slated to undergo extensive refurbishment, and the combined cost for these ambitious works is a staggering Rs. 219 crore. Among the trio, the Gurugram railway station will witness a remarkable transformation with an allocated budget of Rs. 200 crore. On the other hand, Pataudi and Rewari stations will also be on the receiving end of notable upgrades, with budgets of Rs. 12 crore and Rs. 7 crore, respectively. This announcement was made following a meeting between Gurugram MP Rao Inderjeet Singh and Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav, as reported. With Gurugram rapidly progressing in various domains, the need for an upgraded railway station became evident. Inderjeet expressed the significance of this project, stating, "The work was already underway, and now PM Modi's launch of this mega renovation project will take it to new heights. Improved railway connectivity will be a major boost to the warehouse and freight corridors flourishing in the area." The primary goal of the renovation project is to enhance passenger amenities, which includes a revamp of seating arrangements, train displays, foot-over bridges, and waiting rooms. Moreover, Gurugram railway station will be equipped with multiple entry and exit points to facilitate smoother movement. The anticipated improved railway connectivity is expected to contribute significantly to the development of the region's warehouse and freight corridors. During the course of the meeting, concerns were raised about the suspension of the Garhi Harsaru to Farukhnagar-Delhi DEMU train during the pandemic. Considering the demand from passengers, the Railway Minister assured that the service would be resumed promptly. Furthermore, discussions also centered around the construction of underpasses and foot-over bridges near Garhi Harsaru and Bhimgarh Khedi railway stations. The Railway Minister promptly instructed his officers to submit reports on these demands at the earliest. In addition to these developments, Rewari railway station is set to gain a new washing facility, commencing operations from August. Moreover, the Vande Bharat train is scheduled to make a stop at the Rewari railway station, a welcome addition to the area's connectivity.
