In a massive bust on February 15, sleuths from the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized a whopping Rs. 1 crore from the possession of three persons at the Guwahati Railway Station. Abhishek Sarma, Umesh Chandra Sarma, and Pawan Kumar have been identified as the three suspects. Pawan is from Delhi, while Abhishek and Umesh are from Uttar Pradesh. According to security personnel, they were all apprehended at Paltan Bazar's entry gate and the money was retrieved shortly after they were detained. The total seizure, according to sources, was at least Rs 1,48,30,600. The money was brought from Arunachal Pradesh, and the trio was believed to be transporting it to Delhi. The trio is accused of not being able to show any documentation for possessing such a large sum of money, and an inquiry is ongoing. On 14 February, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Railway Protection Force (RPF) sleuths seized a rape suspect from the Dibrugarh-bound Rajdhani Express. Khalil Islam, the accused, has been recognised as a young man of roughly 18 years. Khalil has been charged with rape and a case has been filed against him by the Delhi Police. Khalil was reportedly on his way to Assam when he was arrested at the Kishanganj train station.
