Ahead of Saudi Arabia taking a final call on allowing the pilgrimage in 2021, the government has opened registration of the pilgrim. The Haj travel in 2021 will cost Rs 1.20 lakh more than the fees paid by the pilgrims. It was cancelled in 2020 because of the Coronavirus pandemic and full refund was made to 2.13 lakh applicants. The state governments have been asked to allow the pilgrims to register in their respective districts through the e-centers from Tuesday (Nov 10). Ahead of Saudi Arabia taking a final call on allowing the pilgrimage in 2021, the government has opened registration of the pilgrims. They can apply online, offline or through the government's Haj Mobile app. The last date for the application is December 10. The pilgrims have to deposit the first installment of Rs 1.5 lakh as against Rs 81,000 in 2019. Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi announced the Haj guidelines in Mumbai on Saturday. Royal Vice Consul General of Saudi Arabia in Mumbai Mohammad Abdul Karim Al-Enazi was present on the occasion, but he did not disclose if his government is permitting the annual pilgrimage while welcoming the advance preparations in India. He said the Haj process being put in operation is as per the advance guidelines issued by the Saudi Arabia government.
