Hameed Lelhari becomes head of Al-Qaeda affiliated group

Srinagar: After the death Zakir Musa, Al-Qaeda-affiliated group Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind has appointed Hameed Lelhari as its head.

Accprding to the report, Hameed Lelhari as appointed as the head after the death of its chief Zakir Musa in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district early on May 24. Lalhari was the deputy when Musa ran the affairs of the terror group in the Valley.

As per the report, Lahiri  is one of the 10 initial members of Musa's team, which has been nearly decimated by the security forces. Musa's gang had 10 members, eight of whom are now dead with only Lalhari and one other militant remaining. Three men raped a 17-year-old deaf and mute girl,video goes viral

Former head Musa was killed after a joint team of Army’s 42 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Tral village after receiving intelligence input about his presence in the area. Musa had been hiding at the place for the last couple of days. After his encounter, all schools and colleges across the Kashmir Valley were ordered to be closed in the wake of protests.

As per the report, security forces made efforts to make Musa surrender but he didn't relent and continued to resist the forces using grenades, eventually being killed in a gunfight.
