Hansika's 'Maha' producers respond to allegations from director

Director UR Jameel’s Maha, which was announced as Hansika-starrer, has been in the news from the time it went on floors as it is the actress’s 50th film. The producers of the film were planning to release the film on an OTT platform and the film’s director had sought High Court’s help to stop it. Now, the makers have responded to the allegations from the director.

While it was said that nine days of shoot were pending, the makers have repsonded that the film was completed in the month of February 2021 and is ready for release. The director's side had also alleged that the film’s producers and few others from the team went ahead with the post-production, including re-recording, dubbing and editing without director Jameel’s knowledge.

In a statement, Etcetera Enterainment, the makers of the film said, "While there have been some tiny issues brought up the director and subsquently the director has approached the Madras High Court and filed a case to stop the release of the movie 'Maha'. The said case came up for hearing and the court did not grant an order of stay on the film and only ordered notice and consequently we received a notice from the director's lawyer."

"Since a case has been filed by the director against the producer, we would like to clear the case and have decided to wait for the decision of the Hon'ble Madras High Court. We also expect that, in mean time, the present restrictions, due to the pandemic, would be eased making it more appropriate for the release of our movie Maha," added the production company.

The upcoming movie 'Maha' is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, and it marks the 50th film of actress Hansika Motwani. The film, which is being directed by Jameel also has Silambarasan and Srikanth playing crucial roles. Ghibran is scoring the music, while the cinematography and editing are handled by Laxman and John Abraham respectively.
