Today is the birthday of Bollywood actor Om Prakash Bakshi. He was born on 19 December 1919 in Lahore, Pakistan. He was educated in Lahore. He had an interest in art from the beginning. At the age of about 12, he started learning classical music. In 1937, Omprakash was employed in 'All India Radio Ceylon' for a salary of Rs 25. His 'Fatehdeen' program on the radio was very much liked. Prakash's film career was from Dalsukh Pancholi's film Dasi (1950). For this, he was contracted at a salary of 80 rupees. It was Omprakash's first speaking film. Omprakash had a good friendship with musician C. Ramachandra. Together these two produced films like 'Duniya Gol Hai', 'Jhankar', 'Lucky' etc. After that Omprakash formed his own film company and produced films like 'Bhaiyaji', 'Gateway of India', 'Chacha Zindabad', 'Sanjog' etc. Prakash is also known for his comedy. He in his career worked in films like 'Padosan', 'Julie', 'Chupke Chupke', 'Bairag', 'Sharabi', 'Namak Halal', 'Pyar Kiya', 'Khandaan', 'Chowkidar', 'Aandhi', 'Loafer', 'Zanjeer'. He was well appreciated in the films of the great Amitabh Bachchan. Omprakash made a place in the heart of every Indian by becoming 'Daddu' and 'Sharabi Munshi Lal' in the film 'Namak Halal'.
