Republic Day: Constitution of India was written in 2 years 11 months and 18 days

India is being celebrated today as its 72 Republic Day. Republic Day is celebrated in the country on the 26th of January every year. The enthusiasm of the countrymen is worth watching on this occasion. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, the whole of India is seen to be painted in one colour. We also have a history of this glorious Republic.

Why Republic Day is celebrated: Republic Day is celebrated on January 26 as the foundation day of the Constitution in the country. The Constitution of the country was enacted in India on 26th January 1950. On this day, the New Constitution was repealed by repealing the Government of India Act (1935) in India and enforcing the new constitution. Since then, the day of 26th January is being celebrated as a national festival every year.

For the first time, India has declared a full republic on January 26: It is also said that a proposal to grant India full republic status was first moved at the Lahore Congress session on January 26, 1929, which was rejected by the British. Thereafter, on 26th January 1930, Congress declared India a full republic. The constitution was started on 9th December 1946, which took a total of 2 years, 11 months and 18 days to become. On 26th November 1949, the Constitution was handed over to the Chairman after which it was officially implemented on 26th January 1950. Our country runs according to the Constitution.
