Chennai: Tamil Nadu state's revenue and disaster management minister KKSSR Ramachandran, claimed on Saturday that eight people had died as a result of the state's severe rains. In an interview with the media in Chennai, Ramachandran said, "In Tamil Nadu, eight persons have died as a result of rain-related occurrences, three of whom died on Friday, November 26.. In Chinglepet, two teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been sent, one in Kanchipuram and the other in Chinglepet." He continued, "Waterlogging has been reported in 220 locations around Chennai, with 34 of them having been cleared. At 127 locations, floodwaters are still being pumped out." Meanwhile, MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, is meeting with Governor RN Ravi to discuss the state's heavy rains. The districts of Nagapattinam and Cuddalore have been hit the hardest by the constant rain. The Chennai Meteorological Department issued a red notice for all coastal districts until today, as well as an orange advisory for the neighbouring districts, on Friday.
