East Kameng: In a joint operation with the Dimapur police, the Seppa police detained three suspects and siezed 1.2 kg of heroin worth 2.36 crore. On Sunday, three people namely Ashraf Hossain Choudhary, 33; Kamaluddin, 26; and Shayan Chandra, 27, were taken into custody. Superintendent of Police Rahul Gupta of East Kameng police congratulated the whole team who were part of the operation. Under the Arcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), police detained the accused Apu Venia in July of this year. It was discovered after questioning that he purchased heroin (drugs) in the Sontipur district. Following that, Kameng Police began creating a supply chain utilising technical and financial records. During their investigation into the Apu veni supply network, Kameng police identified other interstate connections. To capture Ashraf Hossain Chaudhary and learn his methods, East Kameng police set a trap and slept there for three days. Ashraf Choudhary was apprehended on Sunday Morning with 1200 gm of heroin when he was dealing business with Kamaluddin, who was also detained on the spot. Kamaluddin, who was also arrested immediately, was his business partner. When it was discovered that a truck had given Ashraf Hosain Choudhary the quantity concealed in 100 soap cases, the truck was stopped, and the driver was taken into custody. A truck was apprehended and the driver was arrested when it was learned that the truck had supplied the quantity in hidden 100 soap cases to Ashraf Hosain Choudhary. Police have also frozen the bank accounts because they were being used to transfer narcotics revenue. Seven lakhs have so far been frozen from these accounts.
