Himachal suffers badly! Corona and weather wreak havoc on tourism

The tourism world, which has already been badly affected by the corona epidemic, is now hit by the second hit of the weather. Heavy rains and landslides in hilly areas have adversely affected the tourism of these hill stations. Himachal Pradesh is also one of them. District Tourism Officer Sunaina Sharma said on Friday that corona and subsequent worst rain in Kangra district have negatively affected tourism.

In Himachal Pradesh, there are many tourist spots including Kangra which attract a large number of domestic and foreign tourists. The District Tourism Officer said, "Since March 2020, the corona has been the main reason for adversely affecting tourism. Hill stations like Beed, Dharamshala including Kangra attract many foreign tourists. Apart from Corona, the highest rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has also affected tourism. Though there is less tourism during the rainy season, this time a lot of tourists were arriving here. Tourism was improving for the first time since coming to Corona, but landslides, etc., brought it down again''

According to Sunaina Sharma, "Earlier in June, tourists started coming after the relaxation of corona restrictions. Many places were filled up to 90 percent of the tourist accommodation. Similar conditions prevailed from July 10-11, but due to changes in weather, hardly 10 percent of these places are now touristy. Even after weekend tourists and commercial travel, hotels have hardly 10-15 percent of the rooms.''
