New Delhi: Hockey India is unable to find a new head coach for the Indian junior men's hockey team. Hockey India had first sought applications for the post by July 5. However, after not receiving at least four applications required for the same, the deadline was extended to July 25. On Thursday, even if there were not enough applications, Hockey India was forced to extend the application for the date once again till 16th of this month. This was confirmed by Hockey India CEO Illina Norman himself. This information was given to Hockey India on its official website. After Judd Felix's term as head coach of India's men's junior hockey team ended on June 20, Hockey India issued a vacancy for the post. On January 9 this year, Hockey India had recommended that Harendra Singh be removed from the post of head coach of The Senior Men's Hockey Team of India and take over as the coach of the junior men's hockey team. Harendra had said that he would take over as the head coach of India's junior hockey team only if Hockey India is ready to accept all his conditions. Harendra's biggest condition was to pay him the equivalent salary of any foreign coach. According to sources, Hockey India's Aka Harendra has been contacted more than once but nothing has been done at this time.
