Beijing: Hong Kong Hollywood star Jackie Chan has expressed his intention to join China's ruling Communist Party of China. It may be recalled that Jackie Chan had earlier faced severe criticism for supporting Beijing's crackdown on pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong. The 67-year-old actor has expressed his desire to join the CPC during a seminar in Beijing on Thursday. At the seminar, the Chinese film industry interacted and expressed their views on President Xi Jinping's speech at the centenary celebrations of the CPC on July 1. At the seminar, Chan, vice president of the China Film Association, spoke about his interest in joining the Communist Party of China. Jackie Chan said, 'I can see the greatness of CPC. This party will fulfill what it says and promises in just a few times, not in 100 years.' The Hollywood star added, 'I want to be a member of the CPC.' Let's say Chan has been associated with CPC for many years. He has also been a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), an advisory body of party-nominated professionals.
