Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will review the situation on Sunday by taking a survey of flood-affected Kerala. In a statement on Saturday, the Home Ministry said that Singh will be accompanied by Tourism Minister J. Alphonso and senior officials of the Home Ministry. They will visit flooded and landslide affected areas. It has been stated in the statement that along with the ministers, Chief Minister P. Vijayan and the ministers of the state government, reviewing the search, rescue and relief measures started by Kerala and Central Government. In addition to the Chief Secretary in this review meeting, there will also be senior officers of the central agencies and the state government. On Friday, Singh gave assurance of the help of the Center to deal with the situation arising from rain and floods during the phone conversation on Vijayan. During the south-west monsoon, heavy rains have occurred in different parts of Kerala. It has been stated in the statement that NDRF teams have rescued seven people while providing 398 people and 12 cattle to safer places. Due to torrential rains and floods in many districts of Kerala, more than 10,000 people living on the banks of Periyar river and tributaries, have been sent to 78 camps opened in Ernakulam district. After two water drains were released, this step has been taken to deal with the wretched situation. Officials said that 10,510 people have been provided shelter in 78 relief camps opened in Parvur, Aluva, Kanyanur and Kunathnad talukas in the district. District officials said that they have made all the necessary preparations to provide food, drinking water and medical facilities to the transmitted people in the camps. At the same time, Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan has contributed one lakh rupees to the CM Disaster Relief Fund and has also requested to openly donate to the public.
