New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has set up a three-member commission for the delimitation of municipal wards in Delhi. The MCD issued a statement on Saturday informing in this regard. The process will pave the way for municipal elections in Delhi, which will be the first election after the recent unification of the three corporations. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) in its statement said that in the exercise of the powers vested under Sections 3, 3A and 5 of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi Act, 1957, the Union Home Ministry has constituted a Delimitation Commission to assist the Central Government in the delimitation of the corporation ward and other related works. The statement said that the committee constituted for the delimitation of the MCD ward will have three members. The State Election Commissioner of The League, Vijay Kumar Dev has been appointed as the Chairman of the Commission. It is said, Pankaj Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development and Randhir Sahai, Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Delhi have been appointed as members of the Delimitation Commission. The Commission will submit its report within four months of its constitution.
