Hong Kong logs 26 new Covid-19 cases, but no death

Amid the Omicron threat the statistics from the Center for Health Protection, Hong Kong logged 26 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total of cases to 13,146.

One imported case, 19 cases epidemiologically linked to imported cases, three local cases, and three cases epidemiologically linked to local cases were among the newly reported cases on Saturday. Twenty-five of the cases contain mutant strains, with one case's mutation test result still awaiting, according to the centre.

Meanwhile, Complete-genome sequencing of 11 earlier reported cases revealed that they all harboured the Omicron variation of Covid-19, increasing the total number of Omicron infections in Hong Kong to 517.
