Hope she takes care of Amethi with love: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: On Thursday eveing, while addressing press reporters Congress President Rahul Gandhi conceded defeat in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi as BJP’s Smriti Irani extended an unassailable lead of over 30,000 votes as counting of votes for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections were underway on Thursday. The Congress president congratulated his rival and said that he hoped Irani “will take care of the people of Amethi.”

Applauding Ms. Irani on her feat, Mr. Gandhi said, “I hope she takes care of the people of Amethi with love.”  He further said, “I respect the decision and congratulate Smriti Irani ji.” 

According to the latest trends, it abundantly clear that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was on its way to retain power for the second term, he made a brief statement to the media where he congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP over its astounding victory. 

Rahul said, “I take full responsibility of Congress' defeat.” Thanking Congress supporters who "worked hard", Gandhi urged them to "not to lose heart." He said, "Our fight with the BJP is of ideology. We have two different visions." "Today is not a day to talk about the details of the results. I congratulate Modi and accept the mandate of the people and wish the PM will respect and protect the interest of the country,” Gandhi said. 

As per latest trends at 6:36 pm, NDA was leading in 348 Lok Sabha seats out of the 542 seats, while the Congress-led UPA was ahead in 92 seats and others were leading in 103.
