Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved the construction of 56,368 houses under PMAY-U at Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee Meeting. These houses are proposed to be constructed under various verticals of PMAY-U Mission. With the 'Housing for All' vision, the spotlight has been on speeding up the design, completion and distribution of houses across the country. Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA)is committed to providing all deserving recipients in Urban India with pucca houses by 2022, when the country celebrates 75 years of Independence. Shri Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, MoHUA, said, "Let's get into the mode of implementation and execution." He urged the States/UTs to ensure 100% completion and delivery of PMAY-U houses to all its eligible beneficiaries within the Mission period. The participating States/UTs were also directed to use the online mechanism for proper implementation and monitoring of the Mission. In Lucknow, Ranchi, Rajkot, Agartala, Chennai and Indore, houses are being designed under the Light House Projects.
