Leading Automaker Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) witnessed cumulative sales of 60,105 units in the month of January, a year-on-year growth of 15.6%. Hyundai sold a total of 52,005 units last month. The credit of this sales number can be given to Creta and the new i20 . While domestic sales in the month saw an uptick, exports fell by 19% when compared to figures from a year ago. Export of the company dipped to 8,100 last month from 10,000 in January of 2020. Creata and i20 are being liked by the customers. The updated Creta was launched in March of last year and as such, the January 2020 figures may not be a fair comparison. This is also true in the case of the updated i20 which had been launched later in the year. Additionally, Hyundai had also updated its Verna sedan in post lockdown times. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki on Monday reported a year-on-year sales growth of 4.3% in January and sold a total of 160,752 units of which, 142,604 units were sold in the domestic market.Talking about Tata Motors, it has recorded 94 per cent growth in the domestic passenger vehicle segment in January. Compared to just 13,894 units in January, 2020, Tata Motors sold 26,978 units of passenger cars last month.
