Third umpires to call front-foot no-balls in ICC trial

Dubai: ICC has taken a big decision on the front foot no-ball. According to the decision, the International Cricket Council has changed the rules and is now going to give the television umpires the right to decide on the front foot no-ball. However, it will be implemented as a test in a limited over format. The ICC will decide which series it will implement in the next six months.

The trial was conducted in the 2016 ODI series between England and Pakistan, but this time it will be implemented on a larger scale. Cricinfo quoted ICC General Manager Geoff Allraday as saying that the third umpire will be given the footage a few seconds after the forward leg fall. He will tell the field umpire that no ball has been made. So the ball will be considered correct until the umpire takes another decision.

"The footage is shown a little late. When the foot moves towards the line, the footage is shown in the slow-mo and stops when it falls on the line. The routine works very well and the third umpire decides on the base of the picture. This picture is not always broadcast. The Cricket Committee of the International Cricket Council wants the system to be used more and more in the limited-overs format.
